My name is Zeena Ahmed. I'm currently 17 and a senior in high school from Atlanta, Georgia! I have always been someone who thrives off debate and discussion. I believe that no matter the background or age, everyone is capable of contributing positive change to society. Age is merely a construct, one that does not have to define our intelligence or capability.
Why Vote16Atlanta?
In an APLANG class full of teenagers, I stood to be the only one who believed 16-year-olds should vote. In my junior year, my teacher held a class debate around this one idea. It was a no-brainer for me; "Of course, in fact, why shouldn't we be allowed to vote?" My peers felt otherwise, as evidenced by the debate ricocheting (quite a thrilling one) across the room. I was determined to persuade them in that classroom. Now I'm determined to persuade our legislators in Congress.
ReThink is a personal blog I created with the goal of not only discussing issues and ideas I believe are important in today's world, but also showing youth that they are fully capable of holding these discussions. All of the blog pieces listed on this website are linked to the ReThink Blog on Substack. You will find not just those pieces, but other discussions beyond the Vote16 Campaign. Every read, like, and follow matters on the ReThink Blog, so join me over there in creating discussion.
